Very well written and something I can say I’ve experienced myself here in the US.

As far as political ideology goes, I’ve managed to piss off both sides. When the vaccine was first imagined, many prominent Democrats were against it because of Trump’s involvement. Therefore my Republican friends denounced me.

When the vaccine was implemented during the Biden administration and all the Democrats had a miraculous transformation and became vaccine fanatics I was denounced by my Democrat friends.

Virtually all of my circle (except for my wife and kids) took the vaccines. There was high pressure to get the vaccine that no amount of logic or facts could overcome.

Once it was obvious that I wasn’t going to take it and that no amount of pressure was going to work, the excommunication began. Not outward and obvious, but subtle and under the radar. Painful nonetheless.

Now I live with truly knowing the people I thought I knew.

Weird.

My story in some ways mirrors yours. As a retired professor of American government and political theory, I tend to think things over for awhile rather than act as soon as possible. My age group lined up like eager soldiers when the vaccine arrived here in Fort Worth, Tx. They could not believe my hesitation. Most of my friends were also liberal thinking individuals along with myself, but many factors didn't add up to me

Since that time, I have attempted to open their eyes with all kinds of evidence and each time, they say things like..........you just aren't following the "science." It is unbelievable. In fact, I am not interested in their company anymore. They are robots so entwined with phrases from medica and Frankenstein Fauci, there is nothing more to say.

One example: Two people - one friend here and one family ,member in Colorado both had blood clots in their lungs a month after their second booster.....they were treated for a few months with blood thinners and the condition resolved. At the same time, neither of them connected it to the Pfizer vaccine which they both had. I finally mentioned the possibility and they acted as though I had crossed the line, saying things like you are an anti vaxxer and believe in conspiracy theories. What???

If they had taken the time to do some research..... a lot of research............and not swallowed the narrative right off, I would hope their eyes would have opened. Instead, they obviously prefer others to do their own thinking.
