This was a wonderful article. The part about losing Furtado's dad was poignant. My daughter is a physician and I sent her journal articles because she didn't just believe me. Similar situation to Furtado's, except age-reversed. And I'm not a physician, but I did physics research and know how to read journal articles and read about 2k of them in 2020. (The jargon was a bit of a learning curve.) I read articles in epidemiology, immunology, virology, infectious disease, internal med, pathology, pulmonology, hematology, surgery, masking, social distancing, PCR, etc.
I found Zelenko online in Mar 2020, like Furtado did--and Didier Raoult. Other early sources were Swiss Policy Research website, Cameron Kyle-Sidell's videos, c19hcq.com, and Malcolm Kendrick's blog.
A key article was published in Dec 2021 about time-to-treatment with HCQ/azithromycin that should be passed along to physicians everywhere. There is an antiviral window of time within 72 hours of symptom onset where HCQ (and likely any other effective covid antiviral) acts like a parachute.
Dr Rafaeli, you have done well for yourself, you received the highest accolade and that came from your son, treasure that through the dark days that will encompass us again shortly.
VERY ENLIGHTENING!!! Needs to go VIRAL as quickly as possible around the world...Along with other stories of Physicians RESISTING THE Psycho-Predator Alphabet Conspirators of the Gates/Fauci/Soros Medical Complex with CCP Appointed, Tedros at the W.H.O. as the lead. Appears, the Physicians as Dr. Furtado who CHOSE TO REALLY PRACTICE MEDICINE, did their GOD ANOITED PROFESSIONS AS APPOINTED and saved lives. Pray for the faithful Doctors and our world. 🙏🏻
The references don't show what you claim about HCQ. None of them focused on HCQ treatment within 72 hours of symptom onset. And none of them were RCTs.
One of the advantages of meta-analyses is that they can filter out noise and collect signal, even if there are major problems with the collected studies. Some things cannot be filtered out, such as giving antivirals late. Time is key with antiviral treatment of acute disease.
Parachutes are obvious. Bias is a mole hill compared with the effect of parachutes. We don't need RCTs of parachutes or worry about certainty of evidence.
I'm really not focused on IVM--more on HCQ. Did you look at the Accinelli study yet? I linked it in another comment.
"There are several trials circulating that investigate various concomitant medications (e.g. doxycycline, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, zinc) in addition to ivermectin. Due to unproven efficacy and possible adverse effects, these comparisons may confound the assessment of the efficacy or safety of ivermectin, and we considered the inclusion of such combination therapies inappropriate."
Given both drugs have secondary functions of being zinc ionophores, excluding zinc is like trying to make a two part epoxy work, with only one part...
The 2nd link even includes the famed study that used folic acid as the placebo against hcq... when folic acid isn't a placebo for covid.
Actually, there are 2 studies that used folic acid as the placebo... lol.
Excluding zinc may still allow some benefit to be shown in a large group. It's mostly just elderly men who are deficient in zinc. To show benefit with smaller groups, zinc supplementation is needed.
RCTs aren't used to study nutritional deficiencies in the population.
"Overall, Zn deficiency was found in one out of ten community-living elderly people and was associated with the risk of malnutrition. Our results encourage the assessment of Zn status in elderly people at risk of malnutrition, with a special emphasis on elderly men."
Dr Furtado is a hero among cowards. His father would be very proud now that the truth is obvious to even the blind.
A very useful essay. Now that Twitter is open and free, this essay should be spread around as much as possible.
Thanks you very much for your gentle words, Elizabeth! Let's keep the fight for the truth in the COVID-19. Filipe
Thank you Dr. Furtado. It's a wise man who can question himself.

Bullshit. He treated people with symptoms, not just positive PCR tests.

RCTs show that, given very late, IVM & HCQ don't resurrect the dead.
See my comment that precedes yours.

Cool red herring, bro.
For you, RJ.
To understand OBS and RCTs.

I said "72 hours" not the bogus "early treatment" that can vary up to 14 days.
Repeating worthless comments don't somehow make them valuable.
you are in bed with the pharm business and the corrupt politicians. you are unable to think outside the circle.
Brilliant comment!!! IVM & HCQ are so expensive compared with Paxlovid & Remdesivir. HCQ for 5 days for covid costs what? $1.50?
Cool distraction, bro. The question was pharma making money.
All IVM studies here.

You only display your incompetence with this comment.

And this was known in march 2020... so guess what. The researchers probably knew exactly what they were doing, and the studies were designed to fail.
Shrug. You can learn, here, now. Or you can stay ignorant.

You have an issue with reading comp.
"It's mostly just elderly men who are deficient in zinc"
Your comment also is not a RCT. Based on your rules of evidence, your comment should be ignored.
You are really bad at debate. Are you getting paid for this poor effort?

lol.
I doubt you even know what a zinc ionophore does.
